Tottenham Hotspur could potentially lose Harry Kane.

Presently, advanced discussions are taking place between Kane and Bayern Munich for a potential transfer this summer. Should Kane leave, the Spurs will need to seek a replacement.

Finding someone to fill Kane’s shoes will be a daunting challenge and perhaps the most difficult task that the Tottenham Hotspur’s chairman, Daniel Levy, will encounter. Nevertheless, he appears to have an intriguing strategy in store.

Football Transfers reports that Spurs are contemplating a short-term loan deal for Romelu Lukaku to stand-in for Kane for this summer. Nevertheless, they have a long-term solution in mind that could materialize in January.

Interestingly, the report suggests that Tottenham isn’t dismissing the idea of bringing Ivan Toney on board in January.

While enticing Toney this summer would be futile given his suspension from football until the winter transfer window, Spurs have kept the door open to sign this “exceptional” forward player in 2024.

Stepping into Kane’s shoes isn’t easy for any player. However, if there’s anyone who can embrace this challenge, it’s Toney.

The England international has already made a name for himself in the Premier League, scoring 21 goals last season. He is also acclaimed for his steadfast belief in his abilities.

He’s always up for a challenge and doesn’t shy away from the opportunity to fill Kane’s spot in North London.

Extracting Toney from Brentford won’t be a walk in the park. He is undoubtedly their key asset and, as evidenced by David Raya’s case this summer, the club wouldn’t succumb quickly to pressure from larger Premier League teams in the transfer market.

It’s fascinating to see what will transpire by January. If Tottenham plays well and secures a strong footing, they might stand a chance to lure Toney to North London. But if they falter initially, wheeling and dealing for this transfer could turn out to be an uphill battle.
