Top Premier League Player Valued at £40m Turns Down Offer from Tottenham Hotspur

According to Dean Jones, a sports journalist, Conor Gallagher, the gem from Chelsea, is not eager about a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, opting to stick with Stamford Bridge for the time being.

In a discussion with GiveMeSport, Jones talked about Gallagher’s plans amidst Tottenham showing an interest in him.

As Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is rumoured for a move to Atletico Madrid, the Spurs could be in the hunt for a new midfielder shortly.

Conor Gallagher is among the prospects for Tottenham, if Hojbjerg decides to leave, since it appears Hojbjerg’s move to Madrid is imminent.

Recently, The Daily Mail suggested that Ange Postecoglou is considering Gallagher as his ideal choice for a midfielder. However, Jones feels that Gallagher, 23, is intent on staying and battling for his spot at Chelsea.

Gallagher’s Preference is to Stay at Chelsea

Jones told GiveMeSport that despite the interest of various Premier League teams, Gallagher is eager to secure a position in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

“Conor Gallagher has no interest in leaving Chelsea. Hence, the interest from Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton, and Newcastle is, for now, going nowhere,” stated Jones.

“Gallagher is devoted to making a name for himself at the Bridge. He might change his mind later if he feels fully supported, and he might even be in the starting line-up at the start of the season due to lack of alternatives.

“Everton has shown interest for quite a while and marketed themselves as an excellent platform for Gallagher to raise his game and profile, promising ample game time.

“I doubt Everton will completely abandon this pursuit until the transfer window closes. From Gallagher’s perspective, he would leave London given the right opportunity, but is this it?”

Despite a successful loan stint at Crystal Palace in the 2021/22 season, Gallagher struggled for playing time last season.

This season, however, under Pochettino, the English player could have an increased role, especially due to the departures of Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.

With Chelsea valuing Gallagher at more than £40 million and with limited choices in midfield, it seems unlikely he’ll be leaving anytime soon.
