Tottenham Anticipates a £45m Defender Agreement and Micky van de Ven Acquisition this Summer

Ryan Taylor, a journalist, predicts that this summer, Tottenham Hotspur will acquire Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven.

In a conversation with GiveMeSport, Taylor provided an update about Tottenham’s ongoing quest for a new centre-back.

Tottenham began the summer window brightly by securing Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon.

However, the search for a new centre-back continues for the North London team, as Ange Postecoglou revealed his desire to fortify this area.

“We are aiming to bring in at least one player,” Postecoglou spoke to The Evening Standard this week.

“I’m not frustrated — this is just how the football world operates. I have enough experience to know how things work. I wish it was as simple as my wife ordering from Amazon and receiving a delivery every day. But no, there’s no frustration.”

Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, two defenders, have been strongly tied with a move to Tottenham this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Tapsoba is still Tottenham’s prime target.

According to Taylor, Tottenham may arrange to bring Tapsoba and Van de Ven as part of their plans to restructure their defensive line this summer.

Taylor foresees Tottenham signing Van de Ven and Tapsoba

“However, Tottenham is also expected to have some departures. It all depends on Ange Postecoglou’s perspective,” Taylor told GiveMeSport.

“If he decides to keep the back four, then they probably won’t need more than Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba. But, if Spurs plan to shift to a back three formation, then they might need to reconsider.

“Clement Lenglet’s loan from Barcelona has ended and there is high interest in Davinson Sanchez.
Joe Rodon is also likely to leave.

“So, yes, I anticipate these two players to be Spurs’ new signings.”

In the Bundesliga, Tapsoba and Van de Ven have performed well, making them top choices for Tottenham.

Last season, Van de Ven had an excellent campaign with Wolfsburg and established himself as a key player.

The Dutch player is incredibly fast and has the necessary skills to succeed under Postecoglou.

Tapsoba, 24, has similar qualities to Van de Ven, however he has more experience, making him capable of making an immediate impact at Tottenham.

Leverkusen values him at about £45 million, thus he could be the more expensive choice for Tottenham. But if Tottenham is serious about refreshing Postecoglou’s defensive line, then bringing in both Tapsoba and Van de Ven would be an impactful move.
