It seems improbable that Spurs’ midfielder Giovani Lo Celso would remain with Tottenham after the close of the transfer window.
The influential Spurs playmaker has not seen any action since January 2022.
Lo Celso has made a significant impact during his 18 months on-loan at Villarreal.

However, locating a suitable taker for Lo Celso has proven to be a challenging task.
Nowadays, another club reportedly lost interest in this prized Spurs asset.
A couple of days back, the player’s management informed Radio Punto Nuovo about negotiations with Napoli.
Nonetheless, current reports from Italian journalist Ciro Venerato suggest Serie A champions may be on the verge of a retreat.
According to him, the conditions aren’t favourable for negotiations to progress, he said to Tgr Rai, quoting Tutto Napoli.
This indicates Napoli’s readiness to let go of the Argentine player.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, it appears, wanted a loan contract with Lo Celso, his only preferred solution.
Contrary to this, Spurs’ board didn’t favor this approach, mentioned Venerato.
Thus, Napoli is expected to explore other opportunities to strengthen their midfield.
Our perspective
It’s reasonable for Spurs to be reluctant about extending Lo Celso’s loan period.
The ‘phenomenal’ playmaker has spent his last 18 months affiliated to Tottenham, but playing elsewhere.
Lo Celso, according to reports, earns £100,000-a-week and is contracted with Spurs until summer 2025.
Given this, selling Lo Celso could be practical for Tottenham if they don’t intend to utilize him.
However, it’s debatable whether any clubs would be ready to invest heavily in acquiring him.
A conceivable middle ground could be a loan followed by an obligation to purchase.

Perhaps, and this is pure speculation, Napoli wasn’t willing to commit to such an arrangement, leading to the breakdown of the deal.
Let’s see how the next few weeks pan out. It’s not as if Lo Celso has failed to demonstrate his value over the past 18 months.
His impressive performance at Villarreal has kept him in the spotlight and ensured his market value remains robust.
