Ange Postecoglou Amazed by Spurs Player’s ‘Incredible Work Attitude’

Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has commended Richarlison for his exceptional performance, including a hat-trick, in a match against Lion City Sailors.

Spurs managed to secure a 5-1 victory, coming from behind, against the Singaporean titan at the National Stadium.

Spurs yielded a goal 15 minutes into the match when Maxime Lestienne created an opening to assist Shawal Anuar.

Lestienne, at 32-years-old, outmanoeuvred Pedro Porro and was able to get the ball past Guglielmo Vicario to gain the lead for his team.

Just before half time, Spurs made a comeback with Harry Kane scoring a penalty earned by Pape Matar Sarr.

Following the break, Postecoglou’s team took over the lead with Richarlison scoring from the rebound.

The 26-year-old scored his second goal at the 52nd minute, and finalised his hat-trick in stoppage time.

Giovani Lo Celso, whose future at the club looks more secure, also managed to score during the second half.

‘Much of his contributions go unnoticed’

Despite his significant move from Everton last summer, Richarlison only managed to score three goals for Spurs in the past season.

Nonetheless, his recent performance indicates that he is on the right path, creating anticipation for his future performance under Postecoglou’s management.

In an interview with football.london, the Australian manager explained his perspective on Richarlison and how he compares to Harry Kane.

According to Postecoglou, people often overlook the hard work that the Selecao star puts in for the team.

“Richarlison certainly has a presence in the box in his own special way. He and Harry have the right attributes for that position,” he stated.

“Richarlison has the ability to also play wide and as a secondary striker, a fact people often ignore, that’s because he has an incredibly strong work ethic.”

“Even if his hard work for the team is not always visible, he constantly puts in the effort.

“Whether it’s pressing the opponent or making runs where he doesn’t end up getting the ball, he constantly harasses the defenders, so he’s perfectly equipped for multiple positions.”

Our Opinion

Spurs’ performance is indeed commendable as they’re showcasing an increasing number of standout performances.

While there are minor issues to be addressed, particularly in their defence, Postecoglou is actively working to address them.

Richarlison had a challenging starting season with Spurs, but the overall team performance wasn’t optimal either.

Seeing his performance in the upcoming term will be exciting, but it’s clear that the team is moving in a positive direction.
