Darragh MacAnthony, the chairman of Peterborough United, has expressed that Arsenal owner, Stan Kroenke, is interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.
In an interview with TalkSPORT, MacAnthony shared his views on Kane’s future at Tottenham, suggesting that Arsenal could use a player like the England skipper.
Rumours of Kane being transferred to Bayern Munich have been circulating since the start of the transfer window.
The 29-year-old’s contractual agreement with Spurs ends in a year, and speculations suggest that he does not plan to renew this summer.
MacAnthony feels that despite the intense competition between Tottenham and Arsenal, Stan Kroenke would make moves to acquire Kane if the circumstances were different.
MacAnthony hints at Kroenke’s interest in signing Kane
In his discussion on TalkSPORT, MacAnthony mentioned that Arsenal could secure the Premier League if they managed to sign Kane.
Stating that Kane would be a £100 million steal for any team in the top-four, he added that “If it weren’t for the rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal, Arsenal wouldn’t hesitate to sign him.”
He further emphasized that “Stan Kroenke and his son are serious about their business, winning titles globally with their franchises. Arsenal could use a player like Kane.”
Adding, “if Kane were part of Arsenal, the title race could flip, with Arsenal securing the league.”
Even though Gabriel Jesus had an exceptional debut season in North London, Arsenal needs a consistent goal scorer.
Kane scored an impressive 30 goals in Premier League for a struggling Tottenham team last season. However, the idea that Kane may consider swapping North London sides seems far-fetched.
The England skipper has cemented a strong legacy with Spurs over the years and it appears unlikely that he would choose to stay in London even if he does part ways with the team next summer.
