A report from The Athletic indicates that Spurs are nearing a deal for the England international.
It seems Tottenham is currently in a favorable position to sign James Maddison. The Telegraph reported on Monday that Ange Postecoglou’s team aims to secure the 26-year-old’s signature in the coming days.
Tottenham expected to agree Maddison deal this week
According to The Athletic, Tottenham and Leicester are predicted to finalize an agreement this week, with Spurs willing to pay an initial £40 million plus add-ons.
Leicester is seeking £60 million for the attacking midfielder, but personal terms are not expected to be a problem for Tottenham, as reported.
Securing Maddison would be a significant achievement for Spurs. In the last few years, he has been outstanding, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists last season even as Leicester faced relegation.
He has been consistently ‘impressive’ and could be the player Tottenham has been sorely missing since Christian Eriksen’s decline before his departure.
