Tottenham Hotspur may consider Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, as the latter’s sale to Bayern Munich in the upcoming summer transfer window is being speculated, states a report by Football Transfers. The report indicates that Ange Postecoglou has shown an interest in securing Lukaku on a loan basis if Kane were to leave.

Lukaku’s previous ties with Mauricio Pochettino’s team makes him a surprising prospect for Tottenham. However, if Lukaku were to be recruited by Spurs, they could be witness to an uneasy reunion. Ten years ago, during a match between Tottenham and Everton at Goodison Park, Lukaku unwittingly collided with Hugo Lloris, causing Lloris to lose consciousness. The event led to then-manager Andre Villas-Boas to reproach Lukaku for causing the collision and not reaching out to Lloris afterwards.

We must remember that this mishap took place a long while ago, and Villas-Boas’ reproach could have been swayed by external factors. Additionally, Lloris’s continued stay at Tottenham also hangs in the balance, as he no longer remains the team’s primary choice goalkeeper. Nonetheless, if Lloris does stay with Spurs and still bears a grudge against Lukaku, his potential signing with Spurs may induce complexity.
