Clive Allen, the former Tottenham player, is of the opinion that Yves Bissouma could stand out at Tottenham Hotspur during this season with Ange Postecoglou.
During a segment on Spurs Play, Allen expressed his thoughts before Tottenham’s pre-season friendly game against Leicester City.
Sadly, the match that was supposed to take place in Bangkok was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions that left the field waterlogged.
Despite the cancellation, Bissouma was scheduled to start under Postecoglou’s leadership, following a strong performance against West Ham earlier in the week.
Allen, renowned in the Tottenham community, feels that Bissouma is a great match for the No6 position in Postecoglou’s setup.

Allen’s Take on Bissouma
On Spurs Play, Allen went into detail about Bissouma’s performance against West Ham.
“The key is maintaining discipline in the central midfield position, where instincts may lead you forward,” commented Allen.
“However, players need to stay put, act as the pivot that controls the flow of the game. His commendable footwork, technique and understanding of his role – primarily to protect the centre-halves and provide support where necessary – are noteworthy qualities.”
“His strategic diagonal passes [during the West Ham match] and his ability to connect the front players with the ball, specifically to Maddison, show his importance in the role, which suits him just fine” added Allen.
After transitioning from Brighton for a £25 million fee in the last season, Bissouma encountered a challenging time during his debut season with Spurs.
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old didn’t get much time to adjust as former coach Antonio Conte’s system didn’t work in his favor.
However, he showed promise during his appearances under Ryan Mason and seems likely to play a significant role now that Postecoglou is in command.

Of course, it’s worth mentioning Bissouma’s injury in February, which kept him out of the game for a couple of months.
It will be intriguing to keep an eye on how he fares under the new coach, Postecoglou. All early indications seem to be pointing towards a promising future for the ex-Brighton star.
