“Recent Updates Deny Imminent Completion: Tottenham Yet to Clinch Deal for ‘Intimidating’ Defender”

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in numerous defenders has been a hot topic this summer, with two consistent names cropping up frequently.

Edmond Tapsoba and Micky Van de Ven have repeatedly popped up on Spurs’ radar over the past sixty days, but so far there has not been any official statement regarding the potential transfers.

On a hopeful note, it seems there might be progress on these matters shortly.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Micky Van de Ven is rumoured to be on the verge of signing with the North London football giants. Regrettably, the same cannot be said for Tapsoba.

As per The Standard, Tottenham is still a considerable distance from sealing a deal with the Bayer Leverkusen defender.

The ‘terrifying’ centre-half would be a tremendous addition to Tottenham’s squad. He’s an aggressive player comfortable with keeping the ball at his feet and would mesh flawlessly with Ange Postecoglou’s tactics.

However, Tottenham appear to be struggling to reach an agreement for this transfer.

Frankly, Leverkusen’s reluctance to sell is understandable.

Having already lost a vital player, Moussa Diaby, this summer, Xabi Alonso’s team can ill afford another significant departure.

Moreover, the revenue from Diaby’s sale has eased some financial stress related to the Tapsoba deal. Following a successful second half of the previous season under Alonso’s leadership, Leverkusen is not keen on upsetting a team that proved competitive on the Bundesliga’s top level.
