Postecoglou Talks About Past Interactions with Son Heung-min from Tottenham Hotspur Tenure

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has opened up about the South Korean forward Son Heung-min, exploring past interactions with him.

It was not an easy season for the international player from South Korea in the last season. Despite securing 10 goals for the Spurs in the Premier League, it signified a fall from his 23-goal tally achieved in the 2021-22 season.

Many found Son’s performance dip puzzling. However, it made sense when he disclosed that he had been playing with a hernia injury throughout most of the season.

Under new management, Son is looking forward to regaining his top form in the upcoming season, assisting his club in securing a European position.

Postecoglou Unveils His Conversation with Son at Tottenham

It is quite expected that Son is going to be a theme in Postecoglou’s outlook on the club and the season lined up.

During a recent fans’ Q&A on the official Tottenham Hotspur YouTube channel, the manager expressed high regard for Son, recollecting, “I have a connection with Sonny as he once scored against my team in the Asian Cup final!

“We almost clinched the game, but Sonny changed it with the equalizer. Fortunately, we managed to outlast them in overtime! I hold no grudges against him for that.”

The positive and lighthearted approach from the Australian manager appears to be a welcoming change from the reportedly negative styles of the previous two managers. Postecoglou indeed appears to bring fresh energy to the team.

Considering an eighth-place finish in the previous season, Spurs are expected to have fewer matches to focus on this time. This could enable them to aim for a deep run in a cup competition, potentially opening the door to European football again.

For them to break their trophy-less spell of over ten years, they need players like Son to deliver stellar performances on the field.
