Several players at Tottenham have uncertain futures, one of them being Giovani Lo Celso.
Lo Celso, who recently got back from a season-long time at Villarreal and had made his mark in Spain, is appealing to many clubs. Calciomercato has already reported Napoli’s interest in the player.
Following that, Di Marzio has stated that the Serie A champions have approached Spurs about the potential signing of Lo Celso in this summer transfer window.
Napoli Enquires About Procuring Lo Celso
The journalist reported that Napoli is aiming to strengthen their midfield this summer and have identified Lo Celso as their desired recruit.
The Italian heavyweight’s prefer to get Le Celso on loan initially, with a provision to buy him the following summer.
However, Tottenham demands a mandatory purchase clause if he’s sent on loan or an outright sale. The two parties are not quite on the same page yet, as some ‘gap’ remains.
Lo Celso first came to North London in 2019, on a period of temporary loan from Real Betis. His stay was made permanent this year, following impressive performances under the leadership of Jose Mourinho.
However, the so-called ‘remarkable’ midfielder found it hard to find a permanent place in the Spurs’ squad and soon lost favor with Mourinho.
Lo Celso didn’t get any favours from Antonio Conte too and he spent his last 18 months at Villarreal.
The 27-year-old entered Spurs with a lot of potential, which unfortunately failed to materialize in North London. It appears quite likely that he will move on this summer, but before that, he will have a chance to leave a positive impression on Ange Postecoglou by participating in Tottenham’s pre-season team.
