The search continues for Tottenham Hotspur’s next center-half, reaching a point at which they need to proceed with a signing urgently.
Even after weeks of struggling to solidify their defense with a new addition, Spurs find themselves in a bit of a bind. However, there’s a player who might just fit the bill.
The club’s connection to Clement Lenglet has persisted for quite some time, and reports suggest that a potential deal for him to come to Spurs would be relatively simple.
As per Danny Kelly’s recent input on The View From The Lane, it appears Barcelona is increasingly eager to sell Lenglet to Tottenham.
Kelly interestingly even suggests that Barcelona is so desperate that they’d facilitate effectively anything to get Lenglet to Tottenham – even hypothetically speaking, constructing a spaceship for his rapid transportation to north London!
Barcelona’s Bid to Pass Lenglet Onto Spurs
Kelly shed further light on the situation surrounding the £32m player.
“They haven’t been able to wrap up a deal for a Blackburn teenager due to financial disagreements. When it comes to securing the services of Clement Lenglet, to my knowledge, Barcelona would even go the length of not only delivering him to the Lane themselves, but building a spacecraft to speed up his move to Spurs. A move to enhance the depth in Spurs’ central defense, without regard for the manager’s specific requirements,” Kelly noted.
It’s Time to Act
Given the urgency, Tottenham should seriously consider going ahead with this deal.
Lenglet is certainly a player who could comfortably blend into their defensive line-up, as he showcased last season. Even though he might not be a standout talent, he offers solid cover and demonstrates a good rapport with his colleagues.
Spurs desperately require a fortifying presence in their defense, and while Lenglet might not be the ultimate choice, he could be a plausible stop-gap solution for the time being.
