£15m Tottenham Player Left Out of First-team Training by Ange Postecoglou

New Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou appears to have sidelined defender Joe Rodon.

Updates on Rodon’s situation with Tottenham have been reported by Football.London.

In 2020, Rodon joined Tottenham in a £15 million transfer deal from Swansea City.

While Rodon initially impressed under the management of Jose Mourinho, he has since struggled to secure a permanent spot in the Spurs team.

He was loaned to Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais during the last season, where he made a total of 22 appearances across all competitions.

Rodon is part of the Tottenham squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, but he apparently hasn’t been actively taking part in the first-team.

Postecoglou Excludes Rodon from First Team

According to Football London, Rodon has yet to get an opportunity during pre-season, having been omitted from both matchday squads so far.

The friendly game against Leicester City that Tottenham was scheduled to play was called off because of severe weather conditions. However, Rodon was not included in the squad, just as he was excluded in the previous game against West ham last week.

Reports suggest that Rodon is no longer in favour with Postecoglou and is now training with players who are either recovering from injuries or unlikely to play in pre-season friendly games.

Last season, Rodon had a tough time in France as he failed to secure a regular place in the Stade Rennais team.

Despite a promising start in Ligue 1, the 25-year-old soon lost his place in the team following subpar performances.

It seems unlikely that Rodon will be able to penetrate Postecoglou’s lineup this summer. It could be better for him to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Prior to joining Tottenham, Rodon was highly praised, but his growth has been hindered due to a lack of game time.
