Darren Bent hints that Tottenham Hotspur might be on the verge of securing Christian Eriksen’s successor, with a potential deal for James Maddison nearing completion.
During an interview with talkSPORT, Bent confessed his wish for Arsenal to have snapped up the former Leicester City star during this transfer period.

Reports now affirm that James Maddison is officially a Tottenham player. The 26-year-old reportedly completed a medical on Wednesday preceding a £40 million move to join Ange Postecoglou’s team, as suggested by The Times.
Bent commends Tottenham on nearing Maddison deal
It’s a promising move for Spurs. Last season, Maddison notched up 10 goals and nine assists for a Leicester team that was unfortunately relegated from the Premier League.

He had also tallied 20 goals across the preceding two campaigns, hinting at a potentially brilliant move for Tottenham.
Bent indeed considers Maddison a potentially invaluable asset for Tottenham and precisely what they have been lacking for a while – a sentiment he expressed along with his desire to have Maddison on Arsenal’s roster.
“He possesses the potential to be a real difference maker,” he remarked on talkSPORT prior to the official announcement. “When considering their midfield, I observe numerous players adept at physical running, such as Oliver Skipp, Hojbjerg, and Bissouma. Bentancur has a distinctive style, which is refreshing, but generally, they have plenty of players who excel at running; however, they lack someone with the foresight and creativity to really open up a game. It seems they haven’t had this kind of player since the departure of Eriksen.”
“Certainly,” he responded when asked about his willingness to have Maddison at Arsenal.
If Ange Postecoglou secures his desired players in the transfer window, there’s potential for a thrilling season ahead for Spurs fans.
Granted, to re-enter the title race would require significant improvement. Nonetheless, the prospect of resplendent football could reignite Tottenham fan’s ardor for their team.
With steady progress, there’s reason to anticipate a resurgent period for Tottenham.
Should Maddison manage to recreate his form from Leicester, he could certainly help propel Spurs to greater heights.
