Club Encourages Tottenham to Contemplate £35m Offer for Their Player

Wolfsburg is eagerly awaiting for Tottenham to propose a bid for Micky van de Ven in the coming summer.

This information comes from Christian Falk, who discussed the athlete in his column for Caught Offside.

The club has been connecting the Dutch player with Spurs for a while, and Wolfsburg is confident that a bid will be placed soon.

So, why is Wolfsburg, for whom Van de Ven plays a crucial role, anticipating a bid from Spurs?

As Falk reports, the German club is eager for Spurs to propose a bid because they are confident that they can acquire a significant sum for the player. Moreover, they feel ready with a substitute, Maxence Lacroix.

Wolfsburg Desires a Bid from Spurs

Falk shared what he knows about the £35m player.

“While there hasn’t been an offer from Tottenham for Micky van de Ven yet, Wolfsburg is aware of their interest and the possibility that Van de Ven may be sold this year. As a result, they are also having discussions with Robin Gosens for this position. They are hopeful for an offer as it could yield a large profit, similar to what happened with Maxence Lacroix,” said Falk.

Worrying

It usually raises alarm bells when a selling club is seemingly eager to sell a player you intend to bid for.

It’s not to suggest Van de Ven is a substandard player, but if Wolfsburg is urging Tottenham to bid, it indicates there may be further context to consider.

Wolfsburg might hope that Spurs would be ready to pay a higher price for the player, especially given previous examples where Spurs were exploited in the transfer market.

Tottenham must tread cautiously in this scenario, as it could turn out that they might not be getting an optimum return on their investment.
