Alan Shearer has given his insights into the inquiries James Maddison should be making before sealing a transfer deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
Shearer has also shed some light on Tottenham’s potential plans for the summer transfer window in his write-up for The Athletic.
The first successful transfer deal under Ange Postecoglou’s supervision at Spurs was announced yesterday.
Hugo Lloris’s successor, Guglielmo Vicario, was officially signed on from Empoli.
The club has yet to announce the departure of the French World Cup champion, but rumors suggest that he may soon leave.
The club is now turning its attention towards securing Leicester City’s key player, James Maddison.

Leaving the King Power Stadium seems the next logical step for the 26-year-old England International, considering Leicester City’s descent to the Championship.
Spurs are on the verge of signing Maddison and a medical will be happening today.
According to Shearer, Maddison should raise one vital question before joining the Spurs.
The answer to this query could be a significant determinant between Maddison signing or backing out of the deal.
Shearer Advises Maddison on the Crucial Question for Tottenham
In his piece for The Athletic, Shearer stated: ‘When I heard about Bayern’s bid, my attention immediately shifted to James Maddison who’s currently in a negotiation phase with Spurs and his current club, Leicester City.
‘If I were Maddison, upon finalizing personal terms, the immediate reassurance I’d seek from Tottenham is the certainty of Kane staying.’
Further, Shearer expressed Maddison’s potential disappointment of imagining creating opportunities for a top striker only for him, to leave before the kick-off of the season.

Bayern Munich, the German champions, are currently pressuring Tottenham to let go of Harry Kane this summer.
With only one year remaining on Kane’s existing contract and no indications of renewal yet, Bayern’s initial offer has been turned down but they remain optimistic about recruiting Kane in the upcoming summer.
Shearer points out Maddison’s potential dismay if Kane parts ways with Tottenham just as he steps in.
Kane, who nearly carried the team single-handedly in their last match, played a pivotal role despite the club’s failure to qualify for European football.
Maddison would not only miss the opportunity to play continental football this season, but also lose a chance to collaborate with Kane, both potentially a massive setback for Maddison.
