An inaccurate pass from Maguire to Christian Eriksen presented Dortmund with an opportunity – an error Onana had to rectify.

Reacting strongly, Onana loudly criticised Maguire and even left his goal to express his displeasure to the centre-back.

Manchester United priced Maguire at £30m this summer, making him among the costliest players targeted by Tottenham.

Edmond Tapsoba and Micky Van de Ven seem to be Tottenham’s top prospects this summer.

However, negotiating contracts for both these players is proving difficult as their current clubs are resisting any transfer attempts.

If transfers for either defender from the Bundesliga are unsuccessful, Maguire could serve as a worthy alternative.

While Maguire’s speed might be an issue considering Tottenham’s preference for faster defenders, his experience is certainly a valuable addition.
