Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a fresh central defender, and Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg appears to be a promising candidate.
The Spurs have started the transfer window on a high note by securing Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis and welcoming Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison to the team.
The club is now turning its attention towards fortifying the defense. As reported by Ben Jacobs on Chris Cowlin’s Tottenham Fan YouTube channel, the team is setting their sights on van de Ven.

Tottenham’s defense was lackluster last season, letting in 63 goals in just 38 Premier League matches. This put them as the 15th-worst team in terms of goals allowed. The acquisition of new defenders has thus become a critical need for the Spurs.
Fingers are pointing towards Wolfsburg’s central defender, Micky van de Ven, as the possible new recruit. Jacobs believes that a deal with Van de Ven is probable and might materialize in the upcoming summer.
Jacobs claims: “The first serious negotiation for a central defender is anticipated to be with Mikey van de Ven. Tottenham seems to have a keen interest in him. As I understand, the negotiations are very promising. If they can secure him, he would be one of their highest priorities. Despite rumors of interest from Liverpool, Tottenham seem more determined to get him on board.”
Jacobs also disclosed that Tottenham has initiated contacts with Van de Ven’s agents and discussions are underway. The next step is for discussions to occur between the clubs.
