Tottenham acquired the midfielder in 2021. He was loaned out in his first season but then retained at the club for the next season.
Despite this opportunity, he didn’t manage to turn heads under the watch of former Spurs manager Antonio Conte. He was fielded 14 times, with only five of these being starts.
However, Sarr seems to be demonstrating great promise in the pre-season, under the management of Tottenham’s new manager Ange Postecoglou. This could be his moment to truly shine.
Pape Sarr is Prepared to Emerge Next Season
The Spurs spent their pre-season in Australia where Sarr has been performing impressively. He delivered a notable performance against London City Sailors.
Journalist Alasidair Gold underlined his excellence in the game. Sarr played in the first half and was replaced at half-time along with others, when Ange Postecoglou opted to field an entirely new team for the second half.
Gold, in his review via Football.London, declared Sarr as the best player of the first half (8/10) and highly commended his performance, saying: “An energetic presence and Spurs’ standout player of the half.”
Impressed by his performance, the manager decided to give him a start. Commenting ahead of the game, Postecoglou remarked: “Incredible player. Always cheerful, exactly what you want from a footballer. His talent is undeniable and his happiness is contagious.”
“I’ve encountered several extraordinary players who have a rather gloomy demeanor. He’s an exceptional talent. This aspect particularly excites me right now, that we have Destiny, Pappy, and Skippy in our team.”
The glowing praise from Gold and most significantly the manager, underscores the impressive talent that this 20-year-old possesses.
Given his consistent, top-tier performances, there’s no doubt that he is poised for Premier League action and might soon stand out as a leading talent in the division.
