As the new season looms, Tottenham Hotspur are actively seeking to strengthen their defensive line-up.
Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven are two key names that have been circulated in this regard.
Nonetheless, it has been suggested that Spurs are also engaging in talks over Galatasaray’s centre-back, Victor Nelsson.

Reports out of Turkey suggest that Tottenham are rigorously vying for Nelsson’s services.
In June, Turkiye Gazetesi reported that Spurs had put forward a bid to secure Nelsson.
An encouraging update regarding Tottenham’s quest for the Danish player has recently been given by Hurriyet.
The news outlet asserts that Spurs are leading the race for Nelsson and the player himself is eager to join their ranks.
Nelsson has reportedly pushed Gala to accept Tottenham’s proposal in his bid to become a Premier League player.
It is understood that the Turkish champions are hopeful for a £21.4million (or €25million) agreement regarding Nelsson.
Moreover, rumours have spread about a possible move in the opposite direction involving Davinson Sanchez.
Our opinion
Nelsson could be a significant addition to the Spurs roster, considering their underwhelming defence in the previous season.
Considered a key player with Galatasaray, Nelsson contributed immensely to the team’s strong defensive showing in the Superlig.
Nelsson’s performance played a crucial role in leading the Istanbul team to their 23rd national league victory.
A 2020 scouting report by Medium referred to the Danish international as a competent passer with an exceptionally calm demeanour. The report also praised his defence skills, positional understanding, and comprehensive game knowledge.
Further, Nelsson is acknowledged for his ‘superb’ ability to defend one-on-one situations and is rarely ever outplayed by his counterpart.

Twitter has seen comparisons being made between the Tottenham favourite, Jan Vertonghen and Napoli’s famed Kim Min-jae.
It’s merely conjecture, but Tottenham signing Nelsson along with either Edmond Tapsoba or Micky van de Ven could be the ideal defensive reinforcement without breaking the bank.
