Tottenham Eager to Sign £40m ‘Remarkable’ Player This Week; Offer Anticipated Soon

Tottenham Hotspur aim to finalize a deal for James Maddison this week, with the club ready to offer an initial £40 million for the Leicester City star.

As per a report by The Telegraph, it is stated that Leicester demands £60 million for the England international after their relegation from the Premier League.

It seems like we’re nearing the end of the saga surrounding James Maddison’s future. Throughout the summer, it has looked like he will likely join either Newcastle or Tottenham.

Tottenham aim to complete Maddison transfer this week

The Telegraph claims that Ange Postecoglou considers the 26-year-old a top priority, leading to Tottenham preparing an initial bid shortly.

In fact, Spurs aim to acquire Maddison within this week, hoping to agree to a £40 million initial payment along with additional add-ons.

It is uncertain if Leicester will accept such an offer. However, prolonged negotiations for Maddison may not benefit Enzo Maresca’s team.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph points out that Newcastle’s interest has waned as they approach a deal for Sandro Tonali.

If Tottenham manages to sign Maddison, it would be a significant move. He has been outstanding for the Foxes, contributing to 77 goals in 163 Premier League appearances.

Since Christian Eriksen left, Spurs have struggled to find a similarly creative midfielder. Moreover, Eriksen had already been underperforming for a while before his exit.

By signing Maddison, this problem would be addressed. It seems that Postecoglou is determined to bring the former Coventry City player on board.

As an ‘incredible’ talent, Maddison’s arrival would also be an exciting message to Tottenham’s other potential recruits.
