Spurs Face Tough Challenge to Sign ‘Extraordinary’ Player, says Alasdair Gold

There is a possibility that Tottenham Hotspur might have to revisit the midfielder market soon.

Despite their stable midfield at present, if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg departs for Atletico Madrid, Spurs might be compelled to acquire another player.

The club has been in the limelight recently with plenty of transfer gossip. According to The Mail, Tottenham is keen on Douglas Luiz.

Unfortunately, the road to sealing this deal might be pitted with obstacles.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold declared that Aston Villa is unlikely to release Luiz, which might make him too pricey for Tottenham.

Challenges with Luiz

Gold provided his insights on the ‘extraordinary’ athlete.

“If Hojbjerg is to leave, we do know that they are interested in Conor Gallagher and as of recent, Douglas Luiz. Gallagher is a player with future potential. As for Luiz, it may be financially challenging as Villa may not be willing to release him for an achievable price,” Gold commented.

Disappointing

It’s indeed disheartening as Luiz could have been a great replacement for Hojbjerg if Spurs were able to secure the deal.

Aston Villa deserves credit for their ambition as they’ve proven to be an intensely driven team. Giving away one of their highly skilled players to competing teams doesn’t make sense for them, especially after a successful transfer session.

Although Tottenham could still try their hand with several bids, as Gold mentioned, the transaction certainly won’t be straightforward.

Therefore, it’s advisable not to have high hopes on Luiz joining Tottenham anytime soon.
