Wolverhampton Wanderers, another Premier League team, is now challenging Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit to sign Tosin Adarabioyo in the upcoming transfer window.
Journalist Dean Jones mentioned this to Give Me Sport while discussing the potential transfer of the Fulham’s centre-back.
The Spurs are on a hunt for at least one centre-back during this transfer window.
The team has already augmented their squad with new signings – Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison.
A significant concern for them in the previous season, though, was the number of goals they conceded.
Among top ten teams, Tottenham was the one to concede the most goals, which ultimately resulted in them missing the chance to participate in European football.
Centre-backs like Micky Van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba have already been associated with a possible transfer to Tottenham.
Moreover, Clement Lenglet might renew his contract after his successful loan period last season.
However, the Spurs must now compete with Wolves to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, who emerged as an attractive option for this summer’s transfer.
The contract of the 25-year-old player at Craven Cottage is due to expire in a year.
If Tottenham aims to secure the tall centre-back prior to the beginning of the next season, they may have to expedite their efforts.
Competition Heats Up for Tosin’s Signature
During a chat with Give Me Sport about the Fulham player, Jones revealed: “Wolves are in the hunt for at least one centre-back, possibly two, depending on the [Max] Kilman situation. Tosin Adarabioyo at Fulham is somebody they’ve taken an interest in. They had their eyes on him a few years back and he’s now actively seeking a new club.
“He aspires to level up by joining a club of Tottenham’s stature, there’s already been some talk about that, but if the optimal opportunities don’t present themselves soon, this could become an intriguing alternative. This would be worth watching in the future.”
Tottenham is hopeful that they can edge out Wolves in the race to sign Tosin this summer.
Moving from Fulham to Wolves would be a parallel shift for the £13m-valued defender.
Among the three teams, Tottenham seems to have the highest probability of participating in European football going forward.
If Adarabioyo considers upgrading at this phase of his career, choosing North London over Midlands would be a sensible decision.
