On Monday, there were claims that Micky Van de Ven of Wolfsburg was near being signed by Tottenham. However, this plan might be reconsidered.
Ben Jacobs, on The Done Deal Show, indicated that the high cost of signing Van de Ven might lead Tottenham to cease their pursuit.
Jacobs emphasised the concerns about the cost of the deal, suggesting Spurs might explore other options such as Edmond Tapsoba instead.

Changing Course on Van de Ven
Jacobs divulged his insights regarding the 22-year-old.
“Micky Van de Ven was under consideration, but the apparent cost is posing a challenge. Ange Postecoglou’s priority is ball-playing centre-backs, but Tottenham might stop pursuing Micky Van de Ven due to his high price, seeking better market value instead,” Jacobs stated.
“Spurs’ interest might shift towards Edmond Tapsoba, another viable option. With an estimated value of £40-45m, Tapsoba is a high-profile target. Manor Solomon, too, is joining the team, indicating that Tottenham has undertaken adequate business operations,” added Jacobs.

What’s the Price?
The fact that Spurs have pricing issues concerning Van de Ven’s deal is intriguing. There seem to be no specific details regarding the player’s fees.
Hence, if the unconfirmed price details are causing Spurs to consider a potential £45m deal for Tapsoba, it can be inferred that signing Van de Ven might amount to a significant cost.
It is still uncertain which player will be signed by Spurs, but the next move could certainly involve Tapsoba rather than Van de Ven.
