Tottenham Hotspur’s defender, Destiny Udogie, has voiced his keenness to play with Son Heung-min in the forthcoming season.
In the previous year, the skilled Italian left-back was secured by Spurs from Udinese for £15 million, a transfer confirmed by Sky Sports. After being loaned back to Udinese for the duration of the season, he is now prepared to make his contributions under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou.
After his non-competitive premiere in Australia, Udogie shared with The Athletic his high level of excitement to collaborate on the field with Son and provide him with assists.
Destiny Udogie Eager to Collaborate with Son Heung-min in Tottenham
Among the most unexpected happenings at Tottenham last season was Son Heung-min’s fall from grace.
The South Korean player, known as an outstanding attacker, has distinguished himself in the Premier League for numerous years and received the Golden Boot award during the 2021/22 season. However, his latest season fell short of expectations.
Contributing to Spurs’ difficulties, Son managed only ten goals in the league.
The player, who turned 31 this year, verified that he had been playing despite an injury, an element that inevitably influenced his performance. Having not fully healed, he was absent from the friendly match against West Ham United in Perth.
In contrast, Destiny Udogie participated in that match, expressing his enthusiasm for the impending opportunity of sharing the wing with Son in the upcoming season at Tottenham. Udogie praises his teammate, saying “It’s clear that he’s an excellent player. I look forward to playing with him and providing him assists.”

TBR’s Perspective:
In the previous season, Tottenham primarily utilized a three-man defense formation, which proved advantageous against certain competitors. However, this setup doesn’t align with Tottenham’s typical gamestyle.
Under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, the team will reincorporate a four-member protective lineup, granting more fluidity to their gameplay.
Son’s recovery to his top form is anticipated in the upcoming season, more so with Udogie’s presence on the field. Known for his offensive abilities in his left-back position, Udogie’s collaboration with Son promises to be interesting.
Should they establish a robust rapport on the field, Tottenham might have one of the country’s most threatening left wings.
