There may be significant obstacles for Tottenham to overcome in their pursuit of a new midfielder.
While rumours have been linking Conor Gallagher with Tottenham in recent days, ideally, Gallagher, who is reportedly valued at £40m, wouldn’t be looking to close a deal with the Spurs.
The Sky Sports correspondent, Paul Gilmour, intimates this belief based on what he learned about Gallagher’s plans on the Last Word on Spurs segment.
Gilmour suggests that a transfer to Tottenham is definitely a possibility but heard that the English international midfielder would prefer to remain and battle for his position at Chelsea, where he currently plays.

Gallagher’s Desire to Remain at Chelsea
Gilmour talks about Gallagher’s situation.
“It seems that the two interested teams – Chelsea and Spurs – could negotiate a deal if Chelsea’s keenness persists. Conway Gallagher is currently on Chelsea’s pre-season tour and, ideally, he prefers to stay at his current club under the new managerial regime. His style of play could certainly please Pochettino. Tottenham has earlier shown interest in Gallagher, but he hasn’t yet left Chelsea. As I understand, he wants to stick with Chelsea as much as possible. If that doesn’t work out, then the possibility of moving to Tottenham could likely come into play. In that case, there wouldn’t be any problem with Chelsea negotiating a deal with Tottenham,” says Gilmour.

Can’t Point Fingers at Him
In spite of Tottenham being an attractive option for many players, Gallagher’s wish to stay and struggle for his position at Chelsea doesn’t seem surprising.
The style of soccer embraced by Mauricio Pochettino’s might be perfectly suited for Gallagher, and since he’s a Chelsea native, it’s logical for him to want to remain at the club he feels a connection with.
However, circumstances may not always align with a player’s wishes, leading to possible transfers. Nonetheless, Gallagher’s aspiration to stick around and try his luck at Stamford Bridge is quite understandable.
Keep a close watch on Gallagher’s situation as it can change rapidly in the world of football.
