What Manor Solomon Learned from Ange Postecoglou Before Joining Tottenham

Israeli winger Manor Solomon shares the guidance he received from Ange Postecoglou prior to his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur this week.

Solomon is Tottenham’s third recruit this summer, following the arrivals of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison to the North London side.

After his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk was about to end later this year, Solomon took advantage of a free transfer and signed a contract with Tottenham for a term of five years.

Following a decision by FIFA in May to allow foreign players in Ukraine or Russia to extended their contracts by another year, Solomon was allowed to leave his Ukrainian team, as reported by The Athletic.

Solomon, who was with Fulham on loan last season, had an impressive performance despite a rocky start due to injury, managing to score four goals in the Premier League.

Solomon revealed what Postecoglou, who recently became Tottenham’s manager, discussed with him regarding the football style he plans to implement at the club.

What did Postecoglou convey to Solomon before his transfer to Spurs?

In a conversation with Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, Solomon unveiled the instructions given by Postecoglou before his move to North London.

“After dialoguing with the manager, I grasped his expectations, his requirements from the team, and his vision for the club,” he explained.

“I’m aware that he aspires to create an offensive football approach, wants to see pressure, ball possession, and an intense attacking game to stimulate our fans and earn points. I believe it’s exactly what the fans would like to see from their beloved team.”

Solomon noted that Postecoglou had a significant influence on every player signed by Tottenham this summer, including Vicario and Maddison.

Fans of Spurs would be thrilled to hear that their former Celtic-manager is planning to change the team’s approach over the upcoming months after four years of more cautious management.

There are high hopes that Tottenham’s partnership with Solomon, who has shown glimpses of his skillfulness in the Premier League and Champions League despite not yet reaching his full potential, will prove to be a shrewd deal.

Postecoglou already has an extensive array of attacking players at his disposal. It is expected that Solomon will be playing a supporting role to key players such as Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Based on the last season’s performances, Solomon has demonstrated his ability make a substantial contribution even when off the bench. Furthermore, since he was a free transfer, there is relatively low risk involved from Tottenham’s perspective.
