The Independent reports that West Ham is intrigued by Maguire for their summer transfer pursuit. They are actively exploring a potential agreement, possibly even a loan.
However, if West Ham proceeds with their interest, securing a permanent deal might be more feasible than a loan agreement for Maguire.
Interestingly, the English defender’s name has also been associated with Tottenham Hotspur, a major competitor of West Ham, which could lead to an exciting clash.
West Ham’s Pursuit for Harry Maguire
Over several instances in his career, the centre-back has proven to be an “excellent” defensive force. His contributions for England have also been commendable.
It’s believed that this player, possibly available for £35million, could provide a much-needed boost to the centre-back role at West Ham.
In the past year, Kurt Zouma has been besieged by injuries and Angelo Ogbonna is getting up in age at 35. Consequently, it appears augmenting this position should be West Ham’s primary focus this offseason.
The perks of a loan agreement would’ve been immense for West Ham. It would’ve allowed them to diversify their lineup for the season and evaluate if Maguire is a good fit for the club.
However, despite the advantages to West Ham, it’s easy to understand why a loan deal might not happen. Manchester United usually splurges in the summer transfer slot, hence the need to recoup some funds as well.
Maguire, being a leader both on and off the field, alongside his European experiences, would be a vital asset for West Ham in the upcoming season.
