“Current Threat at Tottenham: Stan Collymore Warns About the Hazards of Daniel Levy’s Actions”

Prominent Tottenham Hotspur player Harry Kane has been rumored to be moving to Bayern Munich this upcoming summer. Stan Collymore has shared his thoughts about how Daniel Levy is managing this potential transfer.

Tottenham’s upcoming managership under Ange Postecoglou heralds a new phase for the team. The appointment of the Australian manager is causing a stir among supporters, who are waiting eagerly to witness his impact on their favourite team.

Kane, potentially being the pillar of the team, is being aggressively courted by Bayern Munich. As Collymore reported for CaughtOffside, given the circumstances, the forward should contemplate leaving Tottenham for Germany.

Stan Collymore Judges Daniel Levy’s Actions Regarding Tottenham’s Harry Kane as Risky

Harry Kane has received two proposals from Bayern Munich, the initial offer has been turned down by Tottenham. The expectation is that the second offer will be treated similarly.

Daniel Levy has made it clear that Kane is not on the market, especially not for the recently quoted €80 million (£68.5m) including additional charges raised by Bayern this week (Evening Standard).

As Kane is entering his contract’s final year, his potential free departure from the club next year could result in consequential financial devastation for Tottenham.

Collymore refers to Levy’s rejection of Bayern’s propositions as playing a ‘risky’ game.

His take on this is: “It’s necessary to move forward. He has completed all possible achievements at Tottenham Hotspur. If he doesn’t strive for a transfer, it brings his ambitions into question.

“If Kane continues to stay silent while Daniel Levy discards £60 million to £70 million offers from a reputable club such as Bayern Munich, a consistent contender for the Bundesliga and Champions League trophies, it indicates a lack of drive to part ways with Spurs.

“On Levy’s move, I perceive it as hazardous. He may be an astute businessman, but by disregarding Bayern’s offer, he is at risk of losing his club’s most valuable player without any compensation. As Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG, stated regarding Kylian Mbappe’s potential departure next summer: ‘The prospect of your supreme player leaving without payment in football is unheard of.’

“The reason solely Bayern Munich is contending for Kane is evident. With a tag of £70m, he is deemed overvalued. Thus, Levy ought to use this chance for a beneficial sale.”

Analysis:

The current situation puts Levy in a precarious position. Whichever decision he takes, it is bound to face judgement from a part of the fanbase.

From an economic perspective, if Kane refuses to renew his contract, Levy would be making a smart move in deciding to sell him. Losing such a valuable player without any financial compensation would be a great loss.

From a football perspective, though, Spurs cannot risk losing Kane. He is most certainly their star player and without him, the team would be forced to operate at a diminished capacity.

It would be quite interesting to observe how Kane steps into the pre-season and the consequent discussions with Postecoglou.
