Amid the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur is actively improving its team.
Spurs have already welcomed Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison, with Dejan Kulusevski joining permanently to the club.
There’s speculation now that Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, is aiming to enhance his defence squad.
Reports from several Turkish sources claim that talks are ongoing with Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson for joining Spurs.
As reported by Hurriyet, Tottenham might also witness a player departure soon.
Superlig champions are presumably considering Davinson Sanchez as a potential substitute for Nelsson.
Sanchez’s name is being floated around by Gala, with Tottenham seemingly ready to let him go for as little as €12million (£10.3million).
It’s worth mentioning that Tottenham had originally secured Sanchez from Ajax for £42million back in 2017.
Our take
Sanchez came to Spurs amidst high expectations. Unfortunately, his performance at N17 has been shaky and his future in the club seems dubious.
Though he has had some good performances, his lack of consistency and high number of mistakes overshadow them.
Also, Sanchez’s contract expires next summer, so this may be Tottenham’s last chance to procure a worthwhile fee.
Unfortunately, recuperating anything close to the £40million-plus they spent to acquire him four years ago seems unlikely.
As per the prediction, if Spurs sell him for a little above £10million, they would suffer a loss of more than £30million on Sanchez.
However, the alternatives are selling him for less in January, or not getting anything next summer.
If Spurs can manage to secure Nelsson and at the same time transfer Sanchez to the same club, it would be a win-win.
The international player from Colombia with 54 caps could certainly benefit from a fresh environment, and Galatasaray might be a good fit.
They consistently compete for trophies in Turkey, and they also have a chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.
