If Tottenham Hotspur successfully acquires Marc Cucurella this summer, it could lead to an interesting reunion. This comes after the incident last season where Cucurella, a Chelsea player, had a disagreement with Tottenham’s Cristian Romero.
This weekend, Football Transfers reported that Tottenham Hotspur is considering signing Cucurella. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou sees value in the Spanish player and plans to utilize him in an inverted wing-back position next season.

Reports suggest that Chelsea is looking to sell Marc Cucurella, just a year after buying him for £55 million. Tottenham, it appears, is eager to sign him up.
Cucurella and Romero as Potential Tottenham Teammates?
If Cucurella moves to Tottenham Hotspur, he would share a team with Cristian Romero. Given their contentious interaction in the past, their reunion on the field might be notably interesting.

One of last season’s highlights was the intense altercation between coaches Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel, following a last-minute draw between Tottenham and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
That event was so momentous that it’s easy to overlook the contentious moment when Chelsea felt they unjustly conceded the equalizer at the last minute.
At a Tottenham corner kick, Romero yanked Cucurella to the ground by his hair. Despite this, the VAR didn’t intervene, allowing Tottenham to take another corner. Consequently, Harry Kane scored.
Reflecting on the incident, Cucurella expressed his belief that Romero deserved a red card, though he bears no grudge on a personal level.
“The VAR checked for a red card while I was in the stadium. It seemed clear to me, but I was unsure about what transpired,” he remarked, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“I hold no ill feelings towards him,” the Spanish player added. “It was merely an in-game incident. However, it may have been crucial as it potentially influenced the final score.
“To me, it’s not a big deal. Prior to the match, I spoke to him [Romero]. I have no issue with him. It was a single incident during the game. But it might be significant because it had an effect on the final outcome.”
Romero is no stranger to these potentially tricky situations. When he crossed paths with Richarlison after moving to Tottenham, the encounter was met with cheers from their fellow players.
So, the incident with Romero is unlikely to impact Cucurella’s decision should he get the chance to join Tottenham.
Ultimately, if Spurs shied away from signing any player Romero had previously had an altercation with, it could notably restrict their options.
