‘Outstanding’ Defender Acquisition Topped by Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou

It seems that Micky Van de Ven could be the following addition to Tottenham’s squad.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is nearly complete, generating a great deal of interest.

After a long pursuit, Tottenham appears to be on the brink of signing the Dutch player. According to Romano, Daniel Levy has personally taken charge of the deal.

Levy’s involvement in a transfer often causes concern among Tottenham’s ranks.

The club’s chairman has been notorious for making signings without the manager’s consent. A similar situation occurred last year with the signing of Djed Spence.

Levy spearheaded the negotiations for Spence, and shortly after his signing, Antonio Conte clarified that Spence was a club acquisition, not a personal preference.

With Levy’s involvement in the Van de Ven deal, it’s worth questioning if the same scenario is happening again.

However, according to an ESPN report, that does not seem to be the case.

The report suggests that the ‘outstanding’ defender is actually a recruit chosen by Ange Postecoglou, a welcome update for Tottenham supporters everywhere.

Historically, football clubs perform best when the manager’s preferences are respected and adequately supported. It appears that Tottenham is finally aligning with the concept of fully supporting the manager.

Postecoglou reportedly also advocated for the signing of James Maddison, further signifying Tottenham’s decision to put their manager at the center of their recruitment strategy.

The future of Van de Ven at Tottenham is uncertain, but the fact that the manager has a say in the signings is viewed as a positive turn of events for the club.
