‘Extraordinary’ Player Better Than Maddison in Last Season’s Free-kick Goals High on Spurs’ Wish List

Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur is keenly pursuing the acquisition of James Ward-Prowse this summer, as the midfielder is likely to exit Southampton.

The news, as reported by The Daily Mail, also highlights interest from West Ham in signing Ward-Prowse.

Spurs have had a positive start to the summer transfer period, having already secured the signings of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison.

A deal for Manor Solomon is also nearing completion, with the winger set to have his medical examination today after departing Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Focus seems to be shifting to defensive recruitments for Tottenham, but they continue to display interest in bringing in another midfielder, James Ward-Prowse.

Continued Interest in Ward-Prowse from Tottenham

According to The Daily Mail, Spurs, West Ham, and fellow London-based club, Fulham, have shown interest in securing Ward-Prowse this summer.

After Southampton’s drop from the Premier League, the 28-year-old, it is believed, will exit St Mary’s.

Ward-Prowse, over the years, has emerged as a key figure in the Southampton line-up and seems likely to leave the team this summer.

Known for his exceptional free-kick skills, Ward-Prowse scored four times from set-pieces last season.

Spurs have already added to their ranks a specialist in set-pieces, James Maddison, who scored twice from direct free-kicks in the last season.

Spurs’ interest in the Southampton captain has been long-standing. However, it would be surprising if they decide to sign him this summer.

While Ward-Prowse has given ‘unbelievable’ performances for Southampton, Spurs already have players similar to him in their team.

Nonetheless, considering the uncertain future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the club, they may need to find a replacement later in the transfer window.
