Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur is in pursuit of Micky van de Ven, a player with a breathtaking speed that left Ruben Jongkind, the director of his previous team Volendam, utterly amazed.

Fabrizio Romano, via a Twitter post this morning, indicated that Spurs are still contemplating signing him. Meanwhile, De Telegraaf reported that an impressed Van de Ven had had a discussion with Ange Postecoglou.
If the interest Tottenham have in Van de Ven translates to action, they could sign him this summer, making him one of the fastest athletes in the team.
Jongkind recounted his initial experience with Van de Ven during a chat with BBC, expressing his admiration for the player’s speed.
In his words: “Our perspective is definitely different. We’re greatly experienced with young talents. We saw a defender in the style of Cruyff – daring, phenomenally fast, the likes of which I’ve never seen before.
“We noticed some weaknesses in his defensive skills, particularly in agility, personal defending, heading, and some tactical areas. However, these skills can be developed.
“His extraordinary speed was apparent from the beginning. Even though I’ve worked with fast players at Ajax, this was exceptional.”

Last season at Wolfsburg, he clocked a whopping 35.97 km/h (according to Bundesliga.com). For context, this speed surpasses that of both Vinicius Jr and Achraf Hakimi.
The presence of players like Eric Dier and Ben Davies has previously restricted Tottenham from successfully executing a high line. However, this might change with the potential arrival of Van de Ven.
