Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is reportedly unsure about Pape Matar Sarr’s future at the club this summer.
French media outlet Le10 Sport claims Sarr could be temporarily offloaded for the season.
Summer signings for Tottenham have already included Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon.
The club is also on the brink of signing Blackburn Rovers’ young player Ashley Phillips, as announced by Fabrizio Romano. Phillips is expected to undergo a physical examination at Hotspur Way shortly.
However, Postecoglou acknowledges the need to downsize the squad, given the 31 players who accompanied him on the pre-season Asia tour.
A final decision concerning the future of Pape Matar Sarr is now expected.
Despite having limited playing opportunities under Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini, Sarr was influential in his performances for Tottenham last season.
The 20-year-old player partnered with Oliver Skipp in the last 16 clashes against AC Milan and was commended by Harry Kane for his ‘fantastic’ performance.
Pape Matar Sarr also featured for 45 minutes in the pre-season loss to West Ham under Postecoglou. However, Sarr’s future at Spurs remains uncertain.
Potential Loan Move Ahead for Sarr
According to Le10 Sport, clubs such as Marseille, Rennes, and LOSC Lille are demonstrating interest in Sarr.
Tottenham’s decision on whether to loan the young player or not is still pending.
While Sarr has shown great potential during his Spurs tenure, regular appearances under Postecoglou may be a challenging task.
Despite his impressive midfield options, especially with the recent addition of Maddison, Postecoglou might find Sarr’s presence useful for Tottenham’s squad. If Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg exits, they might contemplate holding onto Sarr for the added team depth.
