Pundit Richard Keys Predicts Tottenham to Sign 27-year-old Premier League forward if Harry Kane Leaves

Television presenter Richard Keys holds the view that Tottenham Hotspur may seek to acquire Brentford frontman Ivan Toney if their current star striker, Harry Kane, exits the club.

Penning his predictions for the forthcoming Premier League season in his newest blog post, Keys suggests that it will be a struggle for Tottenham to secure a place among the top six clubs, irrespective of whether Kane stays or leaves.

Rumours have recently surfaced alluding to a possible transfer of Kane to Bayern Munich, thereby creating an air of uncertainty about his continuity at Tottenham.

The Daily Mail reported last Friday that a concluding offer surpassing £86 million has been lodged by Bayern for Kane.

As of now, there has been no word from Tottenham in response to this proposal from Bayern, the reigning Bundesliga champions. Kane did feature for Ange Postecoglou’s squad last Sunday, netting four against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Keys is of the opinion that Toney might make his way to North London in January should Kane eventually transfer out of Tottenham.

Keys speculates Toney may become a Spur if Kane departs

Keys laid down his forecast for the forthcoming season and said that Brentford may greatly feel the absence of Toney in the months ahead.

At present, Toney is facing a suspension for violating FA gambling regulations and will not be available for play until January 16, 2024.

He anticipates Tottenham will pursue the English striker in the winter transfer window contingent on Kane’s departure.

“Toney is a significant loss for Brentford, who are now a well-established team,” he expressed. “In case Kane parts ways with Spurs, I reckon Toney will become a Spur by January.”

Last season saw an exceptional performance from Toney for Brentford, with him registering 20 goals in 33 Premier League matches.

The 27-year-old could prove to be an excellent substitute for Kane at Spurs, given his robust performance and track record in goal scoring.

Moreover, with Toney already proving his mettle in the Premier League, the transfer risk is considerably low.

Regardless, Spurs hold on to the hope of keeping their highest goal-scorer, despite growing suggestions that Kane is poised to move away.
